What strength training looks like at MMFitness
Strength training at MMFitness centers on the movements that build real, usable strength: squats, presses, rows, and hip hinge patterns like the deadlift, taught and coached in every session. In our Group Strength Training classes, your coach leads the workout, teaches technique, and sets your weights based on where you are and where you are headed. You follow a plan instead of wandering between machines, and your progress is tracked so you can see yourself getting stronger.
Training here is deliberately coached. Good form is what makes strength training safe and effective, so your coach watches your lifts and corrects you in the moment. Whether your goal is building muscle, getting stronger for everyday life, or training for performance, the approach is the same: sound movements, honest effort, and steady progress.
Strength training for beginners
You do not need any experience to start strength training at MMFitness. Most of our members had never followed a strength program before they joined, and many had never lifted weights at all. Your coach teaches you each movement from the ground up, starts you with weights you can handle with good form, and adds difficulty only when you are ready.
Beginners do well here because nothing is left to guesswork. You do not need to write your own program, wonder if your form is right, or feel out of place in a room full of experienced lifters. You show up, your coach runs the session, and you learn. If you have old injuries or movements that bother you, tell your coach and the workout can be adjusted around them.
Strength and conditioning
For members who want to train like athletes, MMFitness offers strength and conditioning style training that builds strength, power, and work capacity together. This kind of training suits former athletes who miss structured training, active adults who want to perform better in the sports and activities they love, and anyone whose goals go beyond general fitness.
Strength and conditioning work at MMFitness is coached and progressive, just like everything else in the gym. Sessions combine heavy strength work with conditioning that raises your fitness without beating up your joints, and your coach adjusts the load and intensity to your level. Owner and head trainer Micah Morgan, a former USF football player, founded MMFitness in 2013 and built the training here around the same principles he trained under as an athlete: master the basics, train with intent, and progress over time.
Training for adults in their 40s, 50s, and beyond
Strength training matters more, not less, as you get older. MMFitness runs Temple Terrace Training, a small group program built for adults 50 and up, and many of our members in their 40s train in Group Strength Training. The coaching focus is the same at every age: build strength, protect your joints, and train in a way you can sustain for years.
